Netherlands Golf Federation organizes a Golf Development workshop to develop the Golf Sport in the Dutch Caribbean

On the 9-12th of November, the Dutch Caribbean Golf Association and the Netherlands Golf Federation (NGF) jointly organized the first Golf Development workshop in the Dutch Caribbean.   

During the welcome reception on the 9th of November at Tierra Del Sol Golf and Country Club Minister of Sport Mr. Richard Visser welcomed Mr. Maarten Voermans Product Manager Golf from the NGF in the Netherlands. 

The NGF was founded in 1914 and has 377.000 members in the Netherlands and represents 250 Golf Clubs. During the weekend the NGF gave a Golf Development workshop to the Dutch Caribbean Golf Association and the Golf Professionals from the Golf Courses in ST Maarten, Curacao and Aruba.

From Aruba all Golf Courses where represented and from Curacao we welcomed Mrs. Jane Weststrate Head of Golf Professionals of Old Quarry Golf Course and Daan de Vos Marketing & Events Manager of Blue Bay Golf Resorts, and Board Member of the ST Maarten Golf Association Mr. Greg Whyte. 

During the weekend at Divi Links Golf Resort we learned more about the Committed to Youth, Committed to Senior’s and Committed to Talent and Committed to Green programs.

During the Golf Development workshop we were delighted to have the opportunity to explore ideas with Mrs. Nicole Hoevertsz – of the Aruba Olympic Committee and Member of the Olympic Committee to develop a talent program for participation in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio as Golf will become an Olympic Sport.
