Wine Tasting at L.G. Smith's Steak & Chop House

dsc02715Romar Trading conducted an informative afternoon at L.G. Smith’s Steak & Chop House to further enhance wine & food pairing knowledge among members of management and staff. Wine expert Clive Faustin lead an engaged and interested group through a series of tastings, suggesting perfect combinations with many of the restaurant’s delectable dishes.

As seen in our pictures, it was a much-enjoyed and appreciated afternoon.

L.G. Smith’s Steak & Chop House also extended a warm invitation to some press members who took part in the interactive afternoon, sipping and munching with great enthusiasm. Chef Michael Gomez treated tasters to delicious cheese and fruit platters; Restaurant Manager Michael Ras and Sales & Customer Service Coordinator Francois Maduro, helped host the party.

Among wines tasted and enjoyed 2003, Planeta Chardonnay, and 2002 Planeta Merlot, both from Sicily; 2005, Ruffino Chianti Classico; 2005, Marques De Casa Concha, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a 2005 Syrah, also by Marques de Casa Concha, from Chile;

2006, Starmont Chardonnay, Napa Valley and 2007, Sonoma Cutrer, Russian River Ranch Chardonnay.

L.G. Smith’s Steak & Chop House continues to serve its delicious Sumptuous Sundowner every evening offering a new dinner option, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors who wish to dine early receive great value at the classic downtown dining spot featuring a choice of the most tempting Cream of Vegetables, Caesar Salad or Fried Calamari with Marinara for starters, followed by wonderful main course selections such as Surf and Turf – Garlic Shrimp paired with U.S. Prime Cut Steak; Grilled Certified Angus Beef Shish Kabobs; Pan-fried Mahi-Mahi with Mango Salsa, or Chicken Breast Picatta served over Fettuccini. Each entree is escorted by two different side dishes of the patron’s choice, and accompanied by a glass of Concha y Toro’s Casillero del Diablo Chardonnay or Merlot, per person.

For dessert patrons are allowed to debate the merits of the ever-satisfying Carrot Cake with Carrot Jelly & Raspberry Sauce versus the merits of the Traditional Crème Brulée, or have both by sharing and comparing.

The very tasty experience is offered at $79 per couple, service charge included, and the offer is not available on special days or in combination with other special offers.

After dinner the Crystal Casino beacons with an array of table games and slot machines or for those seeking even more excitement the Havana Dance Revue at the Crystal theater starts at 9 p.m. and tickets are available at the box office.
