Housekeeping Supervisor Maria Panneflek started working for Divi Resorts on December 12th, 1984, when the Dutch Village timeshare condos first opened. She will be retiring after 27 years, in which she cared for the property and its guests wholeheartedly, making many friends and enjoying her career under the guidance of legendary Divi housekeeping managers.
Thanks to her dedication, Maria became supervisor one year after starting as a room attendant. In her role as supervisor she was in charge of 6 building, 27 apartments, a multi-cultural staff and an even more diverse and international clientele, which she got to know very well, looking forward to meeting then each year, when they came running for her immediately after check in.
Post-retirement Maria is determined to travel, and she already has a cruise booked, accompanied by her husband at the beginning of next year. She will also spend more time with her grandson, as her working days are positively over.
Esnit Pacheco, a room attendant at Divi Village, also about to retire, started working at the resort in the year 2000. Originally from Colombia, Esnit is looking forward to retirement in order to care for her 100 year old mom, her ten grandchildren and her own seven children. She is also planning a career move, transitioning from housekeeping to perhaps cashiering, but she definitely plans to continue working, because at 62, single and in great shape, she doesn’t consider retirement an option, just a life-style change.
