The Orange Fish festival, a success

Animal Rescue Foundation Aruba and Animal Rights Aruba joined efforts to raise funds this weekend at a well-attended and fun Orange Fish festival organized by volunteers at Aqua Windie’s on Eagle Beach.

The funds collected at the festival will be used to spay and neuter stray dogs and cats, and to care for animals that require veterinarian assistance.  Aqua Windie’s has graciously offered to host this event designed to help rescue homeless animals on Aruba, in the garden and the restaurant.

While Aruba is an animal-loving island, the problem of stray animals continues to grow. Both ARFA & ARA, two local not for profit foundations, are directing their efforts at educating the population about the benefits of spaying and neutering, and preventing the birth of unwanted puppies, and kittens.

On the other hand ARFA & ARA are also busy offering pets for adoption, and have more than 20 puppies and adult dogs at the moment looking for loving homes. Both organizations report they will be active in the community this year raising awareness and collecting resources to help with this daunting challenge.

Pictured here, prizes and games for kids, fun items to buy – crafts, books, jewelry, flea market items, face paintings, cookies and desserts, the festival at Aqua Windie’s was fun.
