The Marriott Vacation Club Supports Art Rule Aruba

A group of sponsors and supporters of Art Rules Aruba was invited to tour Atelier 89 in Oranjestad, to witness first-hand the activities unfolding there this week.

Art Rules Aruba, an intense summer program for artistic kids, is in full swing offering an interesting curriculum in eight different disciplines including Photography, Fashion, Film, Dance, DJ, Street Art, Music & Performance and Theater, taught by local and international professionals who share their knowledge and experience with the youth of Aruba.

Art Rules Aruba, in its third year is the initiative of local twins Ira & Ayra Kip, who are accomplished artists living in the US and Sweden respectively. They come back each year with a group of professional friends and collaborators to conduct summer classes here and broaden the horizons of local budding artists.

As the program is a private initiative it greatly relies on donations and on the support of the private sector. On Tuesday morning, sponsors were privileged to spend an impressive hour at Art Rules Aruba and came away touched and moved by the great work done by the kids and their teachers, by the confidence gained as artists and by the interesting projects undertaken.

During the tour, the Marriott Vacation Club represented by Ligenne Trimon, awarded Art Rules Aruba a donation and MVCI Director Bettina Gonzalez pledged support for next year’s program in 2013, for the upcoming 4th edition.

Members of the Mary Joan Breast Cancer Foundation were also invited to tour Art Rules Aruba and meet the Fashion students with whom they are planning a fashion project, for an upcoming fund raiser.

With two hundred local teens enrolled, the final showcase will take Cas di Cultura by storm on July 20th, documenting the creative evolution of Aruba’s next generation of artists. The general public is invited
