Thirty five years of hospitality serving the best and biggest steaks from Argentina since 1971. Patrons coming for dinner at El Gaucho Argentine Grill help celebrate the legendary restaurant’s thirty-fifth anniversary.
Old pictures tell the story of a family owned grill-house which opened on quaint Wilhelminastraat on February 17th, 1977, a small unpretentious eatery dedicated to quality Argentinean steaks.
Over the years the restaurant evolved, upgraded and expanded and all along developed a die-hard following among locals and visitors.
The secret to the El Gaucho success story? There is no secret, just a family run kitchen and dining room, and dedicated staff members tirelessly, and consistently catering to over three generations of beef lovers.
Today, at the original location, the restaurant prepares a variety of tempting dishes, charcoal-grilled, juicy and tender steaks such as the famous Gaucho steak, the 16oz sirloin, or the Pincho Torro Caliente — the world’s largest shish kebab, the T-bone steak, the veal chop and much more. The restaurant has also just recently introduced three new entrees, expanding on the selection of seafood dishes.
The new creations present a melt-in-your-mouth Chilean Sea Bass, cut-thick, with a perfect light sear on the outside and a juicy medium-rare inside, with drawn butter and a sprinkle of Japanese seaweed salad, besides the restaurant’s famed traditional sides. Another new combination features a jumbo Grilled Caribbean Lobster Tail paired with lemon caper and a tropical fruit salsa. Lola’s Combo, Lomo & Langosta, a beautiful combination of Argentine Tenderloin & Caribbean Lobster Tail both cooked to order and escorted to the table with clear drawn butter, made its debut to rave reviews.
Any day of the week, while you savor your perfectly grilled Churrasco, the strolling guitarist duo entertains with romantic tangos and boleros.
So drop in tonight or any night, the tradition lives on in the rustic dining room, let the restaurant staff pamper you. And children can quietly play in the Kids’ Room, with arcade games, Disney videos, crayons and Lego, while parents enjoy a quiet and relaxing, unforgettable dinner.
In the mood for an after-dinner drink? The totally refreshed Garufa Ultra Lounge across the street features live music most nights and an extensive bar menu, listing many hard-to-find beverages, including premium vodkas, sipping tequilas and rare scotches with more than 60 signature martinis, and a fine selection of champagne.
