WILLEMSTAD- The Florida Chapter of the Society of Incentive Travel Executives (Site) recently presented its first Educational Caribbean seminar on Incentive Travel, which was hosted by the Curaçao Tourism Board at the Curaçao Marriott Resort & Emerald Casino. Attendees from Antigua, Aruba, Curaçao and the United States spent several days participating in informative workshops designed to educate them on why and how to pursue and retain high-end clients in the Caribbean.
The event was opened by CEO of the Curaçao Tourist Board, Ghatim Kabbara, who welcomed everyone to the island, saying: “It is important that we continue to strive for excellence in our products and services, and together create awareness that we are actually “selling” our services and that our “product” is our home, our island. Let us work together to elevate the Jewel of the Caribbean, Curacao, and promote our tourism industry,” he concluded.
The first workshop to kick off the event elaborated on the types of services that Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies have come to expect from destinations and hosts. Elaine Allison from I Can Fix That talked about the various expectations that clients may have, as well as the level of motivation expected from each participant. Doyle Girouard from Pinnacle Incentives and Joe Orecchio of Road Meetings and Events jointly discussed the Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Events (MICE) industry, along with topics related to different levels of service. The speakers took from their vast experience traveling around the world to present their thoughts on the importance of the incentive industry and steps that companies and destinations must take in order to be contenders in the multi-million dollar industry.
The participating countries were well represented, with executives from companies such as the Marriott Curacao, Hyatt Regency Curacao, Curacao Plaza Hotel, Princess Beach Curacao, Hilton Curacao, Yellow Tours, Business Serenity,ECO Destination Management Services Aruba & ECO Destination Management Services Curacao as well as Massive Production, in attendance.
