Rey Rasmijn, is the Champion winner of the Heritage Cup 2011 Series

Who says old dogs cannot learn new tricks?  Rey Rasmijn, the Campion of the Heritage Cup 2011 series, is here to prove they can!

Rasmijn ranked 23rd on the list of 30 qualifiers, coming into the final round of the Heritage Cup 2011 Series, making him by far, the only Champion to win the Heritage Cup, having been ranked that low down the leader board during preliminary rounds.  The leaders prior to the final event, Ricky Quant, Michael van der Hofstede, and Liam van Ramshorst, and many others in close reach of the cup all performed poorly on the most important day, Saturday, June 25th, as the Championship unfolded.

“The wrong Rasmijn won,” banters Adam Williamson, Head Golf Professional at the PGA Championship Golf Course, “Son Orlando Rasmijn was ranked 4th, yet Papa Rey came soaring over 22 players and took the Cup! That’s amateur golf at its best; you never know what is going to happen. I am so happy for Rey, he played well at the moment he had too, and was very fortunate that players ahead of him didn’t make any move to win; it was an amazing victory.” Williamson concludes.

Title sponsor Boolchand’s Island Director Ravee Nandwani handed the top three finishers of the series, Rey Rasmijn, Michael v/d Hofstede and Liam V. Ramshorst a TW Steel watch each, for their performances, as well as a commemorative cup for the ten top finishers.  The oldest player in the field, at age of 77, Rey Rasmijn won the final event of the Heritage Cup with 36 stableford points and by scorecard playoff against 2nd place winner Ted Noble.  Third place with 35 stableford points was Eric Gildhorn.
