ORANJESTAD, ARUBA – October 31, 2013 – Aruba has long been a popular holiday destination, but now a new segment of tourists is coming: travelers who want to stay local and discover the authentic Aruba. Locals can be part of the new trend and make an extra income by renting out a private room, an apartment or a villa straight through rental site Airbnb.com. Because of the growing interest from travelers and the need for more hosts, Airbnb is sending a team to Aruba to host a number of events next week – and you’re invited!
Airbnb, the free online marketplace where you can rent out and book unique accommodations, sees an increase of demand in Aruba for the coming high season and Carnival. “Travelers on Airbnb have really discovered Aruba as an exciting travel destination. In fact, the number of guests has tripled compared to last year”, says Aja Guldhammer, Country Manager of Airbnb Netherlands.
“Aruba is a very interesting market, because it offers a variety of vacation rentals, private accommodations and apartments for tourists, all of whom are very welcome to list on Airbnb. There are already 200 Airbnb listings in Aruba, but we still need more hosts to accommodate all the travelers,” Aja Guldhammer continues. Anything from an extra bedroom to vacation rentals, can be listed on Airbnb. For example, Airbnb host Desiree rents out her guesthouse at her Donkey Sanctuary: www.airbnb.com/rooms/1584468
