PwC offers a Safe Health Day for staffers

H and S PwC (1)The local branch of the famed multi-national PricewaterhouseCoopers, hosted a Safe Health Day over the weekend at the Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa in the lower lobby meeting rooms, organized by Aaron J. M. Antersijn, Safety & Security Consultant of Security Solutions Consultancy.

The Safe Health Day was offered to staff members as an enrichment program and covered a number of interesting topics. “We value the safety and well-being of our associates and their significant others,” explained partner Edsel lopez, “and for that reason we opted to offer a day dedicated to learning on a subject of concern to all of us.”

The day started with Infant & Child CPR, covering Children and Emergencies and Infant CPR. Wives, partners, grandparents, babysitters and all significant others were invited to attend the very informative class.

CPR/First Aid followed, teaching staff members to recognize emergencies.

Some of the topics handled during the interactive morning included deciding to help, personal safety, assessing for response, basic life supporting skills, clearing the airway, breathing, circulation, unresponsive patient, CPR for cardiac arrest, using an AED, control of bleeding, foreign body airway obstruction, and the emotional impact of providing first aid care.

Having digested much of the information, PwC staffers were then treated to an hour long health assessment class, as they “pulsed” their own condition under the guidance of Antersijn.

The Radisson’s culinary team catered a healthy and delicious light lunch just before the Swine Flu prevention seminar began where PwC staff members received the latest information about the pandemic.

A Pilates class de-stressed and relaxed all participants towards the end of the day as teacher Diana Magyaroff led participants through an hour of stretching and breathing.  As a surprise, Larimar Spa therapists graced the meeting room with their presence awarding each participant with a soothing chair-massage.

Staffers agreed the seminar was helpful, informative and memorable. The mental preparation for emergencies, drills a better response and delivers improve results, when difficult situations arise. Practice makes perfect, is true in all aspects of life.
