LBRC pays Tribute to Aruba's Dia Di Hymno & Bandera

La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club pays tribute to Aruba’s National Day

The social committee of La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club, which is usually in charge of organizing events designed to inform and entertain the resort associates took the initiative to orchestrate a poolside happening in honor of Aruba national day, Dia Di Himno & Bandera, which is upcoming on March 18th, and to open the event to visitors and guests as well.

The mega event which took place last Friday, March 14th from 4 p.m. featured Aruban culture, music, dance & food.

The afternoon official opening was affected by popular singer Claudius Phillips and his band OREO, entertaining for Happy Hour at the Pata Pata Bar.

At 6:00pm the Aruban flag was officially raised by A.J.M.G. of Paradera and Santa Cruz. The raising of the flag was followed by the singing of the national anthem by Maruschka Violenus, and Jerino Ridderstap, winner of “A song for Aruba´s National Anthem and Flag Day” festival, who sang accompanied by Claudius and his Oreo band.

Other event participants included Caha di Orgel “El Porfiado,” Grupo di Baile “Flor di Trinitaria” with Mena Tromp, “Sunrise Dance Group” with Ferdinand Franca, with young Nataniel Henriquez, Violinist Omar Kock and his musicians, Joselin and Argelin Henriquez and Grupo di Betico with Gus Oduber as well as a surprise combo, the associates of the resort in a popular potpourri of memorable songs in Papiamento.

Pictured here, snapshot of the fantastic event, the buffet of funchi, fish cakes, pan bati, fried banana, salt fish, stewed meat, stewed chicken, different cakes, tarts and cookies was especially popular.

Special appearances were also made by “Remedi di Tera,” a stand selling native herbs,”Cunucu di Jimmy” stand with locally grown products and “Awa di Coco,” coconut water stand.
