At the end of two full days of competition, the 15th annual Aruba Pro-Am golf tournament came to a successful conclusion at an award dinner hosted by Ventanas del Mar restaurant, Tierra del Sol club-house.
Two teams from Venezuela with golf pros Jose Montero and Jaime Acevedo finished in first and second place respectively; while amateurs Edoardo Ferrari and Jose Cabello, both from Venezuela shot the longest drives; Harold Hagens, from Aruba & Darryl Roshevuel, from Curacao, came closest to the pin.
A special recognition was given by the organization, in conjunction with the Aruba Tourism Authority, to the founder of the tournament, Andrew â€˜Boefiâ€™ Barbour, who started the world class golf event fifteen years ago as the Johnny Walker International Pro-Am, during his term with the Aruba Trading Company.
The recognition handed over by Junior Croes of the Aruba Trading Company and by Fritz Israel of the Aruba Tourism Authority visibly moved Boefi, who graciously accepted the recognition, having been an advocate of Aruba as a premier golf destination for many years.
The culinary team of Ventanas del Mar restaurant, Tierra del Sol club-house served a gourmet plated dinner to the golfers and their hosts, taking off with a sweet corn and lemongrass soup, followed by Marinated and Grilled Rack of Lamb with Mediterranean Couscous, and culminating with a delicious, cool Champagne Saffron Sabayon.
