A select group of island Food & Beverage professionals gathered at the Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa for a special afternoon orchestrated by Romar Trading and Concha Y Toro Wines. The event allowed guests the opportunity to experience a Wine & Food Pairing Workshop with Ruth Van Waerebeek, Concha Y Toro’s world-famous Executive Chef.
Chef Ruth Van Waerebeek is an adventurous traveler, and international chef and cookbook author. She was born in 1959 in Ghent, Belgium, where she learned to cook at her mother’s side, in fact three generations of cooks, her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. This wealth of home cooking knowledge eventually led Ruth on a marvelous journey around the world and to some of America’s important culinary schools in venerated positions.
Aruba enjoyed the privilege of her company for a few days, as she hosted a workshop and a gourmet food and wine pairing, both at the Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa.
The Wine & Food Pairing Workshop took place this past Thursday and included a delectable menu. The Marques de Casa Concha Chardonnay was paired with Crispy Pear, blue cheese and walnut tart topped with arugula; the Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon accompanied the Grilled Marinated Lamb Chops with almonds, green olives and mint pesto, and the Marques de Casa Concha Carmenère, matched the Braised Short Ribs with cranberries.
Pictured here the much-enjoyed gathering with Chef Ruth sharing her vast knowledge and educating her audience about Chilean wines and their delicious relationship with different foods!
