Eric Wente of Wente Vineyards Visits L.G. Smith Steak & Chop House for a Wine & Food Pairing

DSC07546Aruba’s favorite American Steakhouse, the L.G. Smith’s Steak & Chop House is currently presenting another culinary homage to the U.S.A., with a special fall menu.

From October 16th to November 30th L.G. Smith’s Steak & Chop House, located at the Renaissance Aruba Resort, will partner with Certified Angus Beef to present a selection of special all-American dishes, accompanied by Californian wines imported by the Arion Wine Company.

Wente Vineyards will be well represented during the promotion, its famous wines paired with delicious, innovative appetizers and main courses created by Executive Chef Michael Gomez together with USA-headquartered Chef Peter Vaulty of Certified Angus Beef.

As part of the festivities Eric Wente, on a Caribbean cruise vacation, took advantage of an Aruba stop-over to meet and mingle with the dining room crew and personally conduct a wine tasting at the restaurant Saturday afternoon.

Founded more than 123 years ago, Wente Vineyards is America’s oldest, continuously operated, family-owned winery. Today, the winery maintains its leadership role in California winegrowing under the ownership and management by the fourth and fifth generations of the Wente family.

Blending traditional and innovative winemaking practices, the winery draws from approximately 3,000 acres of sustainably farmed estate vineyards to create an outstanding portfolio of fine wines.

Located just east of San Francisco in the historic Livermore Valley, Wente Vineyards is recognized as one of California’s premier wine country destinations, featuring wine tasting, fine dining and championship golf.

“California wine and the California wine country lifestyle are recognized and appreciated worldwide,” says Fourth Generation Winegrower Eric Wente.  “Our family is dedicated to making superb wines, sustainably produced and affordably priced.”

The family’s vineyards are located in a region that is especially noted for Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc, all wines in the Wente Vineyards portfolio.

Eric Wente, directs the company’s diverse operations with the hands-on style that he shares with his siblings, Carolyn and Philip.

Eric has visited Aruba on a number of occasions before and played the annual Wente Vineyard Golf Tournament at Tierra del Sol. He also conducted a number of wine seminars on the island including one this weekend dedicated to the dining room staff of L.G. Smith’s Steak & Chop House, tasting and pairing Morning Fog Chardonnay, Crane Ridge Merlot and Shorthorn Canyon Shiraz with Certified Angus Beef brand Prime Strip and Cold-Smoked Rack of Pork, in the presence of the Arion Wine Company representatives, restaurant manager Michael Ras, and food & beverage manager John Grigg.
