The Westin Aruba Resort hosted the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the state of Israel, hosted by the Jewish community of Aruba with special guest, the Ambassador of Israel to Venezuela, Shlomo Cohen and his wife, who visited the island on the occasion of the party.
The event at the Westin Aruba Resort was organized by Martha Lichtenstein, Honorary Consul of Israel in Aruba. It featured Aruba Dushi Tera and Hatikvah, the national anthems of both Aruba and Israel sung by soprano Catherine Provence and the Coral Choir. Catherine Provence, who accompanied herself on piano, also delivered an excellent selection of songs from Israel. The evening’s cultural program concluded with the performance of the Israeli Folkdance Group Regesh, who danced a chronicle of Israel at 60.
Cohen welcomed the guests and expressed his joy over sharing the celebration of Israel’s 60th anniversary and the realization of a 2000 year old dream, with communities all over the world.
