The resort’s 50th Anniversary Fundraising Gala Dinner benefited the Aruba Scholarship Foundation. The black-tie affair at the end of July was an enchanting evening of dining & entertainment which took off in the ballroom foyer with a cocktail party serving welcome Champagne Bellinis & hors d’oeuvres, and continued with music and dance to the wee hours, commemorating five decades of music and hospitality.
Guests were delighted with the tremendous Big Band music taking them back to the ‘60s as they dined on a retro menu prepared by the resort’s culinary team. Following dessert, the room started moving and grooving to the sounds of the ‘70s and ‘80s. Once warmed up, band leader Claudius Philips and OREO continued with many of Billboard’s Top 40 hits from the ‘80s, ‘90s, and up to today.
It was a golden moment in time, as the Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa celebrated memories and promoted the worthy cause of the Aruba Scholarship Foundation.
A number of paintings were also auctioned on the occasion, to benefit the cause.
The resort’s Director of Operations Rachel Noordermeer presented the check to the Scholarship Foundation representatives Clyde Harms and Jan Van Nes, and wished to thank the many contributing sponsors: Interprint, Heineken, Romar Trading, Aruba Trading Company, Tropical Bottling Company, Island Temptations and Marketing Plus NV, artist Elvis Tromp who donated three canvas originals depicting the Grande Dame, the famed 50 year old building originally designed by American architect Morris Lapidus in the late ‘50s, from different angles, and its many ticket buyers who gave generously to the excellent celebration.
