The tournament, traditionally held at Tierra Del Sol, will include an award ceremony, a charity auction with valuable offers and an elegant reception catered by Ventanas del Mar restaurant at the end of the golfing day.

Teams of 4 players are invited to sign up with Director of Resort Operations Robert Curtis and with Tierra del Sol’s Head Golf Professional Adam Williamson. Local and international companies and individuals are also invited to become golf-hole sponsors during the event.

The annual golf event is dedicated to the memory of the late Gary Jutz, who was the Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa General Manager, until mid 2009, when he lost his battle with cancer.

Last year, the tournament raised a total of $20,235.78. The amount was divided among three charities, the World Childhood Foundations which works on behalf of most-often ignored and forgotten street kids, especially girls, living in institutions, including young mothers and sexually abused children. The World Childhood Foundation received $10,117.89. Two local foundations, the Wilhelmina Kanker Fonds and the Edmund Harms Hospice Foundation, received $5,058.94 each.

Many Aruban companies were among generous local tournament players and sponsors, too numerous to mention, and the Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa would like to recruit their help again, to make this year’s edition of the tournament equally successful.

In our picture, Lili Prince of the Koninging Wilhelmina Fonds, and Juliska Harms on behalf of the Edmund Foundation, receiving a donation from the Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa representatives, tournament organizers Glenn Farro, Bob Curtis, Tasha Agana, Raquel Lesire, Germaine Wever and General Manager Rob Smith.

The resulting tournament was a lot of fun, as members of the San Nicholas Golf Club arrived at Divi Links to meet and challenge the Links Ladies.

A total of 14 teams participated, twenty eight players, and they all had a blast, says Tabitha Fecunda, Island Marketing & Promotion Manager, The Links at Divi Aruba.

The result of the much enjoyed tournament were the following: Longest Drive men, Juni Albert, received a Divi Links shirt and a basket of Neutrogena products; Longest Drive lady, Libby ter Weeme, she received a Divi Links shirt and a basket of Neutrogena products. Closest to Pin men, Lucio Maduro, received a Great Send sports bag, a polo shirt and cap, and a dinner certificate for Mulligan’s Golf Café, Bar & Restaurant; Closest to Pin lady, Bonnie Pick, received a Great Send sports bag, a polo shirt and cap and a dinner certificate at Mulligan’s Golf Café, Bar and Restaurant.

Pictures here, scenes from the golf course and snapshots from the award ceremony at Mulligan’s Golf Cafe, Bar & Restaurant.

The Aruba Golf Club, in San Nicolas, is the oldest golf course on the island, while Divi Links is the newest. The first one was founded in 1939, while Divi Links, a 9-hole golf course, opened in 2004 with a gala party and charity golf tournament, attended by Prince Albert of Monaco, Prince Pieter Christiaan of the Netherlands, and Aruba’s Prime Minister. While Divi Links is lush and green and surrounded by luxurious private villas and tropical lagoons, the San Nicholas course is a unique desert golf course.
