The diva has performed on that stage many times, however this Friday is special as it is Angela’s farewell concert; she will be going back to Spain to pursue her musical career even further, in her country of origin.

Plaza Café & Casa Tua Pizzeria are inviting the general public to attend the performance and to support the munch-loved singer and her band, over dinner or drinks.

Besides the famous pizza, the restaurant also offers a Lunch and Dinner menu which features a number of famous appetizers from Casa Tua’s other well-established eateries on Palm Beach and in the Palm Beach Plaza Mall.

Owners Victor, Gregory and Daveed, representing two-generations of food fanatics, use their culinary gifts to blend the simplicity of a classic Pizzeria with the freshness of a fine Mediterranean restaurant. An extra added attraction on the show was the introduction of a brand new car, the stylish, fire-engine red Suzuki Swift, 2012, pictured here as it is unveiled to the cameras by TV personalities Ruben and Melvin Garcia, accompanied by the beautiful Joanne Maduro.

Casino manager Michel Croes gave Joanne a private tour of the casino, and a virtual spin in the car, offered to the casino slot and table players, via the new Winners’ Circle players club membership card.

Chantal Cha Young, the Casino’s Sales & Marketing Coordinator reports that the free membership card which can be easily obtained at the members’ desk will help casino patrons earn redeemable points towards gifts and surprises. The winner Iride Lopez, from Caracas Venezuela, reports she decided to go away for the weekend to Aruba, with her family. The day she arrived, staying at the Mill Resort & Suites, she won her $1,000 prize at the casino. When asked what she was going to do with the cash, she responded: “I’m coming right back tomorrow to play some more”.

Locals and visitors enjoy lunch at the farm, as the Savana Lodge Bar & Restaurant serves a memorable African/Dutch menu, and features a well-stocked African Art Boutique.

The highlight of the visit is always the fun interaction with the resident ostriches and emus, including a trip to the incubators and the bird kindergarten, housing baby ostriches, baby emus, baby goats, baby geese, and even a cute baby pot-bellied pig!

Some members of the local press were recently invited to meet the farm’s latest recruit, Chef Thomas Boland whose pedigree boasts direct, genetic lineage to one of Aruba most-decorated and beloved chefs: Matt Boland, the Executive Chef of the Westin Aruba Resort.

Chef Thomas, Matt’s handsome son, first headed to the kitchen at the age of four, when he made breakfast for his two other siblings. He distinctly remembers finding his vocation right there and then, making irresistible bacon and eggs, realizing that cooking is in his blood.

As the kitchen artist at the Ostrich Farm, Thomas introduced a few of his own favorite meals to the lunch menu such as braised short ribs, slow cooked pork shoulder and the island’s longest sandwich, a delicious 23” baguette stuffed with generously sliced, 3-hour, slow-cooked, braised beef in wine sauce!

The jaw-breaker is escorted to the table by the enthusiastic chef, served on a giant platter, au jus, with French mustard on the side.

We devoured half of that sandwich, and took the other half home, in a box, and it tasted equally great in the evening, for dinner.

The family-style sandwich was paired with family style Dutch pea soup, served in a cactus bowl, brimming with Ham, sausage and carrots.

Thomas reports he harvests the cacti himself, from the nearby cuncucu and that the Erwtensoep soup recipe was born in his childhood home-kitchen!

An intuitive chef, Thomas also works wonders with Ostrich meat which finds its way into Ostrich Carpaccio, Ostrich Sate, Ostrich Shoarma, Ostrich Steak, and Jerk Ostrich, beside Omelets, Burgers and Oriental Stir-Fries.

At the end of our tasty lunch Chef Thomas took his white jacket and toque off and toured us at the farm introducing us to several Ostrich pairs, now at the beginning of the breeding season. It was a National Geographic moment when on cue Mr Ostrich flapped his wings excitedly and poked around the ground with his bill, triggering Mrs Ostrich who ran around in circles, flapped her wings and also poked around, before  collapsing on the ground in a heap of feathers, allowing him to mount her, shaking, winding and spiraling his head in all direction!

Mr Ostrich concluded his unexpected performance with a loud honking, his eyes rolling, then got up in a huff to nonchalantly strut away, leaving his wife and the scrutiny of our cameras.

It was a surprise reality TV moment, and not usually included in the regular program. Feeding the Ostriches is however always on the program, and they are eternally hungry, and fun!

Marjan Walhain, the farm’s General Manager reports the farm is available for special events, birthdays and anniversaries, and with the Ostriches in charge of the entertainment and Thomas in charge of the kitchen, a success production is guaranteed.

Poker has regained its popularity in the recent decade and has gone from being primarily a recreational activity confined to small groups of mostly male enthusiasts, to a widely popular spectator activity with international audiences and multi-million dollar tournament prizes, with women being a constantly growing part of that audience.

The Casino at the Radisson has been undergoing a refresh with many new features introduced, including a Winners’ Circle membership card, allowing players to sign up, free of charge, and redeem points earned on slot machine play against many gifts and surprises.

Dinner guests, members of the Aruban press, were privileged to sample all labels of the award-winning family of Scotch whisky, which paired nicely with the perfectly grilled meats and the abundant salad bar of the steakhouse restaurant.

A dinner highlights was the restaurant’s signature cut, the garlic Picanha, the top part of the top sirloin, marinated in Johnny Walker Black Label, just before being grilled!

The elegant party was co-hosted by Mariuccia Amaddeo and Patrick Figaroa of Romar Trading, with other members of the Romar Trading team, Betto Wernet, Gunnar Leonardo who handle Diagio on Aruba, and local Johnny Walker Brand Ambassador, the Striding Man himself, Boefie Barbour.

At the end of the evening Savage, a repeat visitor to the island, offered a special toast in honor of the Texas De Brazil restaurant team for the flawless and much-enjoyed dining experience.
