Pavlowitch was lauded for his patience, his ever-readiness, his easy manner, and steel resolution, his foresight and true grit, in handling airplanes, company employees and passengers at the busy airport: “Unafraid to propose what is bold, not conforming to the usual mold, never backing down when he sees what is true, and telling it all straight, and meaning it all too.”

The humble Pavlowitch accepted the handshake and the engraved plaque from Muyale garciously, and without lingering any further went on to share it with his peers as he presented the top performers of General Air Services and Tiara Air with their certificates and plaques.

General Air Service provides Ground Handling Services at the airport handling a great number of airline companies, as well as Tiara Air, Aruba’s national airline.

Pictured here the award ceremony with Pavlowitch, Muyale, Nelio Gomes Da Silva and an elf!

The friendly carrier has been serving the island for a few years earning a reputation as the affordable carrier to Aruba.

While the airline always offers the same warm and friendly service, it now boasts a very convenient schedule with a Sunday departure from Aruba, permitting locals a head-start on the new week – a feature attractive to business people and vacationers.

The airline lists very reasonable fares, and is the only one to also offer children’s airfares, so that at the price of airline tickets on Surinam Airways, any Miami vacation starts from the moment you step foot on the plane. You don’t have to wait until you reach Miami to begin your vacation. From the moment you cross the doorstep of the Surinam Airways Jet, you are already set free from daily worries.

The atmosphere is just better than you have come to expect from other airlines: there’s more leg room at your seat, and the cabin staff serves complimentary meals and free Surinamese Prabo beer, the crew is sweet and helpful, and the cabin is infused with light tropical music, prepared to switch you into a Miami state of mind. The cabin crew of Surinam Airways genuinely cares about your comfort, and by the time the plane lands, you are already refreshed and ready to enjoy what comes next on your Miami adventure. Best of all the airline offers all passengers two free checked pieces of luggage, which is especially beneficial for Arubans who fly to Miami to shop!

Surinam airways operates a modern fleet of classic Boeing 7373-300 and Airbus 340– 300, offering both passenger flights and cargo air service from Paramaribo, Surinam, to destinations including Aruba, Curacao, Port of Spain, Trinidad, Belem, Manaus in Amazonas Brazil, as well as Miami, USA, via a direct flight from Aruba.

Surinam Airways Boeing 737-300 planes offer 126 seats, including 8 in business class and rare and currently hard to find, in-flight amenities, such as full food services and complimentary beverages including the local Parbo beer. The airline holds code-share agreements with GOL Airways operating in Brazil and Argentina as a regional Airline, as well as DELTA, CONTINENTAL.

The new route leaves Aruba on Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday, then turns around departing Miami on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, presenting the public with a great value-added flight alternative. With three weekly flights from Aruba directly to Miami, the public now has a more affordable option to do business and shop. And the airline’s departure time connects to most major airlines flying out of Miami and even offers checked through baggage.

Booking a flight is always easy. In Aruba, Surinam Airways offices are located on Rockerfellerstraat # 3 and are open Mon – Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Offices are also located in Miami at 7270 NW 12th street, Suite 255, Miami, Florida, Tel.: 1+ 305 599 1196. You can also book on line via EXPEDIA and FLYSLM.com. Passengers in the US may also call toll free + 1 866 992 4623.

Surinam Airways winter schedule, starts on Nov 5th, 2011, and offers the following timetable:

Guests and fans of the airlines commemorated the landmark and the remarkable journey which made JetBlue the largest carrier to Aruba trumping all other airlines. And while competitors cut back in the traditional Boston and New York markets which are Aruba’s two main gateways JetBlue expanded and was rewarded with healthy growth. Pictured here, John Bisslik, and his well-wishing guests, including representatives of U.S. Airways and Tiara Air. Bisslik reports that JetBlue serves 70 destinations in 22 states including Puerto Rico, and eleven countries in the Caribbean, South America and Latin America.

Amazonia Churrascaria hosted the lovely dinner party in the private bar room, capped by an exceptional dessert experience, pampering diners with customized, delicious JetBlue cakes, frosted in company colors.

Tickets for the event went from $100.00-$250.00, and sold out fast. Major sponsors were American Express, Sysco Corporation, the Food Network, and San Pellegrino Sparkling Natural Mineral Water, Carnival Cruise Lines, the Aruba Tourism Authority, Southern Wine and Spirit and the Ritz Carlton Hotel.

Twelve hundred people attended the event featuring 40 restaurant and wine companies. The Aruba logo was shown on the wall throughout the event, as Chef Ron van der Put, working for Salt and Pepper café Aruba  served  Pan Bollo, a traditional Aruban desert, topped with a  creamy Palmera rum sauce, served in a martini glass with a spoon.

Compra N.V. donated funds to purchase the ingredients to make this popular treat for the event, and the Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association paid for the chef’s trip.

Chef Ron seemed to be very popular attraction as people kept coming back for more of his dessert all the time.

The island of Aruba got  excellent exposure throughout the media reporting on the event on NBC, FOX, ABC TV during the show, so did the exquisite Aruba cuisine and the Dine Around program, which was promoted by means of flyers, says Angelina Buckley Regional Director SE, USA.

The recipe of Pan Bollo was printed as a color poster and mounted at the Aruba booth, also well stocked with Island Temptations magazines, the nautical edition Summer 09.

Â
This historical and unprecedented move on behalf of both companies is also unique in the aviation business in the Caribbean.
Â
The venture will initially offer a major route — AUA-CCS-AUA – serviced by a Fokker 100 Jet aircraft.

The alliance between Tiara Air and DAE, may herald cosharing of more flights and a wide-range pooling of resources.

“In uncertain times,” explains managing director Raymond Maduro, “bold moves are necessary,” and in view of the airline industry’s rising challenges, Tiara Air decided to seek cooperation with other regional carriers as a way to increase service, lower costs and improve efficiency.

“Such alliances are taking place all over the globe,” Maduro adds. “This is the first such alliance in this region and it will result in major cost saving, improved efficiencies through network synergies and cross-selling. If the airlines save money, they will pass it on to consumers,” he concludes. Â

“The carriers,” adds Alejandro Muyale, “are not merging; they are just collectively offering improved service in the local market, with the advantage of cross-selling tickets, sharing of aircrafts and crews and combined ground handling and fuel management operations.”

“The alliance,” Muyale states, “makes sense and is in line with what has been happening with other international airlines.” “If successful,” he predicts, “further initiatives will be pursued, seeking the blessing and the endorsement of the Department of Civil Aviation.
