The Aruba Tourism Authority in conjunction with Tierra del Sol Golf Resort & Country Club hosted this year’s 17th edition of the popular golf tournament over the last weekend. Golf professional Jose Montero & his team from Venezuela took first place, while golf professional Alfredo Adrian, and his team, also from Venezuela settled on second.
In third, a team of teenage players from Bolivia led by golf professional Luis Martins surprised all tournament competitors with their impressive results.
Top pro scores were posted by Alfredo Adrian from Venezuela, Otto Solis from Venezuela and Peter Horrobin from Miami. Longest drive was won by Felipe Pinto from Brazil and closest to the pin by Liam van Ramshorst from Aruba.
The winners received generous gifts from Diamond International, Boolchand’s Digital World, DUFRY and Tierra del Sol Vacation Rentals, complemented by handsome engraved trophies.
The bigger-than-ever, expanded and improved Aruba Pro-Am Golf Tournament boasted a total of 31 teams hailing from different countries such as Colombia, Curacao, Brazil, Bermuda, Bolivia, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, USA and Aruba. Teams consisted of one golf professional and four golf players. The USA team this year consists of members of the media, assigned to cover the event for golf magazines.
Tierra del Sol club house orchestrated a series of excellent events to dine and wine tournament participants, each evening featured a different theme, as well as varied and exciting menus.
The final banquet and award ceremony was conducted by head golf professional Adam Williamson and assisted by golf professional James Kylie.
The tournament was co-sponsored by Balashi Beer, AWA & Chill Balashi, Diamonds International, AVIS rent a Car, Dial for Men, DUFRY, Fofoti Tour & Transfer, Tiara Air, Coca Cola, TropicCars, Compra NV and Aruba Aloe.
