The opening of the new employee cafeteria attracted many of the resort’s employees in addition to members of management. The balloon-decorated door was opened by General Manager John Neophytou who took great pride in presenting his most valuable resource — the resort employees — with a beautiful space to relax and enjoy meals in community.

The project was spearheaded by resort executives Pedro & Greta with Zulay and her maintenance crew, Diego, Patrick, Ramon & Alex, in charge of the actual work.

The inviting space also received a new name, Nos Dushi Skina, loosely translated as Our Lovely Corner in Papiamento, as coined by Teresa Williams a resort telephone operator who won the naming contest, entitling her to dinner for two, a massage at the Divi Phoenix spa and a free month-long membership for the health and fitness center.

Neophytou congratulated his team for the excellent work done mostly with recycled materials, and almost-new furnishings. Chef Edwin and his culinary brigade then served lunch for the first time, and cake for dessert in honor of the festivities.

While the project took some time to complete, it became a reality with management support, existing resources and a limited budget, Pedro declares.
