The Chit Chat Café was all dressed up in orange, in honor of Koninginnedag, Queen’s Birthday, a Dutch national holiday celebrated with great fanfare within the kingdom, including all the Dutch islands.

The customized menu reflected Aruba’s Dutch heritage as it proudly served Dutch Pea Soup loaded with rookworst and spekjes, traditional sausage and bacon, as well as other popular favorites such as Huzaren Salade, which is a Dutch-style potato salad with red beets, Frikandel, a minced-meat specialty hot dog topped with chopped onions mayonnaise, mustard, piccalilli & tomato catsup and Rookworst met Zuurkool, everyday Dutch peasant fare of cabbage and sausage.  Aruba’s famed Chicken, Kip Saté with peanut sauce, appeared on the menu in addition to world famous patat friet, the crispy fries smothered with mayo. Dessert featured two delicious sugar coated snacks, fried Oliebollen & baked Appeltaart, to blaring Levenslied, simple catchy songs about love, life.

Ena Vrolijk, Members Relations Manager, La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club reports the afternoon was orchestrated by the executive committee. The resort rotates responsibility for the fun month-end luncheon among all its departments, and the Executive Committee presented a much enjoyed afternoon.
