Aruba’s culture was on display last Tuesday March 16th, when La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club held a public celebration in honor of Aruba’s Flag & Anthem Day. The pool deck celebration was designed to attract and entertain locals and visitors.
Titled, Aruba — Our Pride and Treasure, the event included a special happy hour with OREO & CLAUDIUS PHILLIPS, which commenced with the raising of the flag, the singing of Aruba’s national anthem by Hilyann Croes, and an abundance of music and dance with Caha di Orgel “Nos Ambiente,” and Nelson Sprock, the Mini Chaz Dancers, child-singer Jairee Oduber, the Youth Chaz Dancers, and the Folkloric dance group of Santa Cruz.
The pool deck fiesta offered various food stands featuring La Cabana’s legendary “Bai Plat” Seafood Chowder, and carni stobá, the equally famous beef stew; pickled onions, delicious frekedel snacks, pan bati and fried plantain, perfectly grilled blood sausage, and the best stewed goat under the sun, served with funchi and fried plantain!
The dessert stand featured local cake, and traditional tert, cocada, pansuiker, dushi di lechi and more. Naturally the Pata Pata bar mixed Aruba’s special cocktails at very low prices, for the duration of the event and the Art & Crafts and souvenirs, rounded up the delightful national experience at Aruba’s most active resort La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club, sharing Aruba’s cultural bounty with its guests.
