When its modern new tower was constructed Divi Phoenix introduced the use of an innovative nano-tech product, a chemical treatment for windows which eliminates the need to continuously clean the hard-to-reach glass panels.
The environmentally-friendly innovation also presented a considerable economic opportunity which was gladly embraced by Divi Resorts expected to save over one hundred thousand dollars a year in window cleaning costs, as well as water conservation.
Having met complete satisfaction at Divi Phoenix the treatment is now arriving at Windows on Aruba where it will be applies to the glass, eliminating the need of continuous maintenance of the restaurant’s panoramic windows.
Alex Nieuwmeyer, Divi Aruba Managing Director is excited about NanoUltra™ which chemically binds to the windows, he explains, so that with water spray or rain, the window actually cleans itself.
NanoUltra™ is manufactured by Nanophase Technologies, a nanotech company in Romeoville, IL, USA. Nanophase sent its Principal Scientist, Dr. Harry Sarkas, to Aruba to train and assist in the product application, at Divi Links.
Dr. Sarkas states that NanoUltra™ gives windows a hydrophilic — water loving — quality so that water sheets down the glass and, in the process, washes away sand, dirt, grime and other contaminants.
“Our product,” Sarkas reiterates, ”will retain this self cleaning ability for at least two years.” “During the application process,” he adds, “the product removes most stains, and while it is safe to handle, it doesn’t hurt landscaping and it is more efficient than the myriad of acids currently used for traditional window stain removal.”
“We’re very pleased,” concludes Nieuwmeyer, “we’re blessed by many hard-to-reach windows in our resorts, and we are genuinely looking forward to having to wash these windows every 2 years instead of every few weeks.”
