A considerable number of press members, Aruba Tourism Authority and Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association officials, resort executives, local artists and dignitaries joined festival founders Jonathan Vieira and Giuseppe Cioccarelli, and prominent member of the International film community Claudio Masenza, on the gorgeous terrace of the Sunset Grille restaurant for the presentation which was opened by Aruba’s Minister of Tourism Otmar Oduber.

They all had some fantastic news to share: For eight days in the spring of 2010, Aruba will be the center of attention in the world of cinematography. Actors, producers, film-makers and members of the international press will converge on the Island to witness the first Aruba International Film Festival.  They will experience firsthand what has made Aruba the destination of choice for the many loyal visitors who return to the Island year after year.

During the week, 21 important films will be shown.  Some will be smaller, independent films of special interest, some will be world premiers, some will be blockbuster movie releases from major studios.  Each film will be represented by an artist who played an instrumental role in making that film a success.  Some of these representatives will be familiar faces and household names, others will be influential behind-the-scenes icons of the entertainment world. Journalists from all over the world will be in attendance to record the important event, and take back with them an invitation from the Aruban people to see our beautiful Island for themselves.

With over 300 VIP guests expected from all over the world, and over 40 major news outlets covering every step of the Aruba Film Festival, the event is sure to become a highlight of the 2010 social and business, calendar in Aruba.

Films will be shown both at the Paseo Herencia Shopping and Entertainment Center and at The Seaport Mall cinemas. Gala Dinners and private parties will be held at the top restaurants on the Island.  Accommodations for the international guests will be hosted by the major hotels.  Panel discussions and Master Classes will be held during the day at schools and cultural centers across the Island.
