Pieter van Vollenhoven and Alex Nieuwmeyer
Prof. Pieter van Vollenhoven married to visiting Dutch Royal Princess Margriet Francisca of the Netherlands, played the Divine Nine golf course at Divi Links with Managing Director Alex Nieuwmeyer. They were joined by a member of the Royal Marines and a member of the Security Police, completing the 4-person scramble team.
Van Vollenhoven played like a pro, he knew how to place the ball, and visibly enjoyed the relaxing outdoor experience. Van Vollenhoven and Nieuwmeyer fell behind at first but then caught up to an even game at Hole 6. Lost a point at Hole 7 but caught up gain on Hole 8, a pattern leading up to the last hole. In the approach they found water and a sand trap and despite a master putt by Van Vollenhoven, they lost by one point.
Nevertheless, over a cool beer at Mulligan’s Golf Café’ Bar & Restaurant van Vollenhoven commented on the great lay-out of the golf course and how he really enjoyed a terrific game of golf in the heart of Aruba, mid fully-scheduled formal work agendas.
