essence-16On the eve of Mother’s Day, Maggy’s Duty Free Perfumes & Cosmetics, the mega store in the heart of town received many local visitors for the launch of a new fragrance, Essence by Narciso Rodriguez.

The launch was attended by Scarleth Padilla, Marketing executive of Beaute Prestige International and Patrician Martinez the company’s area manager who also conducted a generous raffle among invitees.

Garufa cocktail lounge in collaboration with Romar Trading Company served Cosmopolitan Martinis and Apple Martinis while guests were introduced to Essence, a musky fragrance with powdery notes of Iris, Rose petals and Amber, presented in an artistic glass bottle by designer Ross Lovegrove, and made famous by the beautiful face of Australian model Catherine McNeil.

Essence is the designer’s second fragrance. Narciso Rodriguez, a Cuban-American worked for Anne Klein as Women’s Design Director under Doona Karan, and later he moved to Calvin Klein where he worked on the Women’s Collection.

In 1997 he launched his own label, and the world first paid close attention to him when he created the instantly-famous wedding dress of fellow Calvin Klein employee Carolyn Bessette Kennedy for her wedding to John F. Kennedy Jr.

He also created a stir lately when Michelle Obama wore one of his red and black creations when she joined her husband, Barack Obama, appearing for the first time as president-elect of the United States, on the stage at Grant Park in Chicago.

The party at Maggy’s in honor of Essence by Narciso Rodriguez was organized by Sylvia Dennert, Marketing & Sales Executive, Maggy’s Duty Free Perfumes & Cosmetics, and attended by the owner Audrey Lacle and her daughters, who also work for the business.
