Le Beaujolais Nouveau 2008 arrived at Matilde’s Restaurant by horse and carriage. The first bottle was uncorked by town’s bon vivant Hans Jansen who was assisted by Rick Zeolla, Vice President Marriott Aruba Resort & Stellaris Casino and Jorge Curiel, Sales & Marketing Manager for Wines, Beer & Mineral Water, Aruba Trading Company.

Deemed young, fresh and fruity the elegant crowd gathered on the sidewalk of Matilde’s restaurant in the heart of Oranjestad, then proceeded to drink bottle after bottle of the new wine, dancing in the street to the music of Tsunami between delicious French dishes, served in the lovely indoor dining rooms, by Matilde’s caring and efficient staff.

Executive Chef Linda Pool delivered an interesting and varied menu starring Veal Steak Tartar, garnished with Serrano ham chip and fried shrimp, Duck Consommé with fresh herbs, Duo of Wild Board Wellington and Rabbit Sausage, Bleu Stilton Trifle with pear relish and Cannelloni of Strawberry filled with orange mousse, over classic French chansons.

Dinner was escorted by the new 2008 harvest wines, pouring Macon Village Nouveau, Beaujolais Village Nouveau, Cote du Rhone Nouveau and Beaujolais Nouveau, release on the third Thursday of November at 12:01 and shipped to Aruba from France in time for the traditional Matilde celebration, organized in collaborations with the Aruba Trading Company.
