Fundacion Autismo enjoyed the hospitality of the Divine Nine for an afternoon of golf with pro James Kiley.
The opportunity to introduce golf to kids suffering from various degrees of autism came up in connection with the Aruba Bank & The Links Charity Golf Tournament, and the decision to host the kids on the golf course was received with great enthusiasm, by Divi Resorts & by the bank.
Following a complete tour of the nine holes the kids, their family members and bank representatives enjoyed famed just-baked pizza at Mulligan’s Golf cafe.
Aruba Bank has been organizing the Links Charity Golf Tournament for the past four years, this time also in conjunction with R.E. Irausquin which is offering a Ford Edge 2008, for the winner of a Hole-In-One.
The tournament is slated for October 25th, 2008.
Fundacion Autismo Aruba (Aruba Autism Foundation) was called to life in 2005 to address the needs of local children. The foundation was formed by parents of autistic children who had to navigate the educational and medical system in order to find the necessary support. FAA therefore was formed to teach Aruban families on how best to help their autistic child, and also to create awareness in general on autism. The main goal is to allow parents, care givers, medical doctors, and teachers to recognize signs of autism as early as possible, in order ensure early intervention, which thus far, is the only treatment for this lifelong disability.
